About The Event
My name is Kashmala and I am a PhD student at York University studying Psychology. I am teaching a course this semester called Brain and Behaviour as part of my teaching requirements. I am excited to announce a trip for TMH students to York University inshaaAllah! All students 13+ years of age, who are interested in attending a psychology/neuroscience class at university, are welcome to attend a class on Friday April 1 at 11:30 AM inshaaAllah.
All students must attend with a parent/guardian. I will conduct a 2-hour lecture (from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM) on Brain disorders and clinical neuroscience which will include a presentation on careers in neuropsychology, followed by refreshments and a Q and A session. Students are welcome to join me in the graduate student office for a quick tour of the Behavioural Sciences Building after the lecture. ou will be responsible for paying for transportation (if coming by bus/subway) or by car (parking).
This would be a great opportunity for any students who are interested in seeing how a lecture is conducted at the university level, and to ask questions about studying psychology or neuroscience at the undergraduate and graduate level, learn about current research in Muslim mental health as well as career prospects after university.
All the details are on the TMH website. Please register by Friday March 25.
Jumaah Salah: This will take place in teh same building where the lecture hall is ( Scott Religious Center). The MSA is there. I can direct whoever needs to pray to that area. Salah time is from 2:30-3:00 ( there are three other jumah times as well)
Parents: There is York Guest Wifi available for those parents who would like to work during the lecture. They can wait outside or sit in the lecture hall. ( AirYorkGuest)
Cost: $5/family to cover costs for refreshments and photocopying of materials.
This is for parents and children ( 13+)
